You can create a balanced random sample for your poll. This option builds a sample of voters that's balanced across key demographics, including age, sex, ethnicity, registered party, modeled party and modeled education.
The balanced sample is created inside your project, so it applies only to that survey. Your original voter list isn't changed.
đĄWant to target 50% of voters under the age of 55 in your IVR poll for example? Easily do so with setting a balanced random sample at project creation!
Step 1/7: Go to Projects and create a new project
In the left-hand menu, under Action, click Projects. Then click + New Project in the top right.
Step 2/7: Choose Text Survey or Call Survey (IVR)
Enter a Project Name. Then open the Outreach Type dropdown and select Text Survey or Call Survey (IVR). Balanced samples are only available for these two project types.
Step 3/7: Turn on Balanced Sample
Select your Survey and Voter List. Once a voter list is selected, the Balanced Sample toggle appears. Switch it on.
Step 4/7: Set the sample size and choose balancing options
In Sample Size, enter the number of voters you want in your sample (for example, 200).
Under List Balancing Options, check each demographic you want to balance by:
Age Range
Registered Party
Modeled Party
Sex
Modeled Education
Ethnicity
Step 5/7: Set the percentages within each category
Each option you checked gets its own section below. Use the sliders, or type in the boxes, to set what share of the sample each group should make up. The number in brackets shows how many voters that is. For example, 25.0% of a 200-voter sample is 50 voters.
The total for each category appears in the top right of its section and should read 100%.
Step 6/7: Assign users to the project
Under Assignees, click the pencil icon. Choose the users or teams who will run the project, or click Add All to assign everyone.
Step 7/7: Create the project
Choose a Status for the project, then click Create Project. Your project is created with its balanced random sample.
