Once your text or IVR survey has enough responses, you can export a cross tab report. It shows how each demographic group (gender, race, age and more) answered every question. A raw export shows responses exactly as collected, with no weighting. The results reflect who answered, not who is likely to vote.

💡 Want results that reflect the expected electorate? See How to export weighted survey cross tabs

Before you start

  • You need at least 200 completed responses. A completed response means the respondent answered every question.

  • ⚠️ If your survey ends with a randomized question group, the question entered last in your survey setup counts as the final question. That question needs 200 responses

  • 💡 For the most accurate results, wait 48 hours after your last batch of texts before you export, so late responses are included

Step 1/4: Go to Projects and open your survey project

In the left-hand menu, click Projects, then click your survey project to open its details panel

Step 2/4: Click the ⋮ menu and select Export Survey Crosstabs

In the top right of the project panel, click the ⋮ menu, then select Export Survey Crosstabs

Step 3/4: Select Raw

Select Raw, then click Continue

Step 4/4: Choose your cross tab breakdowns and export

Every export includes a respondent summary, topline results, and cross tabs by gender, race and age. You can also add combined breakdowns:

  • Education × Race

  • Education × Gender

  • Gender × Age

  • Race × Age

Check the ones you want, then click Export. The report downloads as an Excel file

What's in your export

Each section has its own tab at the bottom of the spreadsheet:

  • Cover: the survey name, report type (Raw (unweighted)), the date generated, and a methodology note.

  • Polling Response Summary: total respondents, total completions and completion rate, plus completions by gender, race and age.

  • Topline: overall results for each question, with the count and percentage for each response.

  • Q0_Crosstabs, Q1_Crosstabs, etc.: one tab per question, showing how each demographic group answered. Q0 is your first question.

ℹ️ An asterisk (*) means fewer than 20 respondents in that group answered the question, so the result is hidden because it isn't reliable

💬Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't I export yet?

Your survey needs at least 200 respondents who answered every question. If you're close, send another batch, then wait 48 hours before you export

My survey ends with a randomized question group. Which question needs 200 responses?

The question you entered last in your survey setup, even if voters saw the questions in a different order

Should I use raw or weighted?

Use raw to see exactly how respondents answered. Use weighted when you want results that reflect the expected electorate, for example when you share results publicly. See How to export weighted survey cross tabs

I use L2 data. Can I export weighted results?

Not yet. Weighted exports for L2 organizations are coming once the weighting model is built. For now, you can export raw cross tabs
