Texting is easy with Numinar! Second step for creating your text project is to create a text script (or message). Make sure you check out the article on how to ensure your texts are compliant.

💡You can send personalized SMS and MMS messages to voters directly from Numinar!

Step 1/7: Click on Messages

Step 2/7: Click on the New Messages Dropdown and Select Text or Conditional Text

Numinar now supports Conditional Texting. Check out this Help Center article about Conditional Texting.

Step 3/7: Label and click Create Text

Label and click Create Text

Step 4/7: Write your text script (and personalize)

You can personalize the message by using "{first_name}" in the message. When testing, it will say "Hi tester" and if there isn't a first name for any reason, it will just be blank. Personalizing messages helps with variances and deliverability.

Step 5/7: Include name attribution and OPT OUT language

You must have both of these in your text script! Name attribution should be the campaign, PAC, or org name that is sending the message.

Include name attribution and OPT OUT language

Step 6/7: Click on Upload Media if you want to add an image/video (MMS)

Upload a .png, .jpg, or .mp4 from your computer! Videos need to be under 525 KB. We recommend using a free video compressor like this if you need to reduce the file size of a video.

🎥 Videos are supported through Numinar Texting at the same cost as a standard picture message. Ensure that the file type is .mp4 and upload it using the same method as seen in Step 6 of this guide!

Videos must be under 525KB to be shown within the message. We recommend using a video compressor like the free one here in order to meet size restrictions.

Step 7/7: Click Save

💡 Here is a short list of general best messaging practices that can improve deliverability and receptiveness.

  • Personalize the text as outlined in this article

  • Remember to include a disclaimer, or name attribution

    • Ex. Hi {first_name}, this is a message from Committee to Solve World Hunger.

    • Ex. ...remember to vote Nov. 7th. Paid for by Committee to Solve World Hunger. Reply OPTOUT to unsubscribe.

  • Be mindful of timing, people are more likely to give a text attention during certain parts of the day

    • Actionable texts, such as event reminders, can easily be forgotten and lost in the shuffle if sent at the beginning of a work day

    • Avoid sending last minute texts with a hard deadline

      • The entire text list is not instantly sent to voters, they are batched into small groups and sent periodically over a small time period (dependent on list size).

      • You can find more information on our How Message Delivery Time Works article!

  • Use proper language and correct spelling

  • Remember to include Opt-Out language

    • This language should be just behind the disclaimer

    • If conducting Text Polling, DO NOT list Opt-Out as a question response
